Early in the novel, a male patient, Justin, who has been working with Ernest for several years, announces that he is leaving his wife, Carol, for another woman. It felt skeezy to me.

But these initial intrigues never develop into anything of deeper thematic interest. Much of couchh stuff is simply uninteresting, and often it seems the author is so interested in the dynamics of their own profession that they forgot to explain to the reader why it is that they should care.
