Jan 19, Basuhi rated it really liked it. Do consequences-positive or negative-cross your mind before doing it? Speechless harringon a story every teenage girl should read, because I think many teenagers, but especially girls, have a severe issue with their self worth as a person.

Speechless was so well-written. Wonderfully constructed characters in a beautifully written novel – and it manages to be funny in spurts while tackling some very tough issues. How does she see the good when there is so much bad? Without all the pamper and shit.

And then all these reviews were popping up, giving Speechless four stars, five stars! I thought it was enough, and it is so far from enough.

I really should just put in a corny one-liner how its brilliance has rendered me speechless and call it a day.

The book could stand on this premise alone, but Harrington has chosen to throw in a bit of romance between Chelsea and Sperchless best friend, Sam. Now, after finishing the book, I definitely have to say that despite her weaknesses, I enjoyed reading from Chelsea’s point of view and did not resent her for her actions – although I probably should have.

It is never nice to bully anyone, talk behind their back, use them for your own entertainment or spread rumors about them.

Chelsea sees what being an actual good person is like and starts to appreciate the difference and how she was so lacking. More than anything, this is a story of forgiveness — of forgiving yourself, of accepting your mistakes and moving on from them, and of realizing that everything happens in life for a reason.

I expected the girls to be vicious, cruel, unrelenting…and they were, to an extent.
