I would recommend either or both. Jan 12, Rebecca Dobrinski added it. What other book might you compare Deconverted to and why? This is an odd question. While I was never in radio, I did grow up in a super religious home, was the ‘good girl’, spread the name of Jesus to everyone I met, and found myself in that awkward situation of realizing it had all been a lie.
Everyone should take some time to read this book, religious or not. I also talk a lot about my tenure in Christian music, a topic which seems to fascinate people. We were taught scripture as fact, right alongside history, math, and science. Thank you, Seth, for being a voice for so many of us. This is something we’ve grown up with, we’ve been encouraged to believe, we’ve been fooled into thinking it is the only way. Both believers and atheists read these books, which can be seen on the Amazon reviews.
I kept expecting to hear, “Area code you’re on The Thinking Atheist, who’s this? It is especially of interest to anyone who has made a similar journey from faith to non-belief, or wishes deconvertef understand how this process works.

All of these were the little things that planted the seeds of doubt and pushed Andrews to seriously consider the role religion played in his life and in society as ahdrews whole. Assertions like these seem comical until you realize that many Christian parents aren’t andres when they teach them to their children as facts.
I wanted the physical book to be able to highlight and make reference to some of the excellent examples and information he gives in the early chapters. However, as time passed fellow faith-expats like Seth Andrews published their exodus stories and I began to feel like I was part of a burgeoning movement.
Those four reasons are God’s silence, God’s inaction, the lack of evidence, and the way the universe looks exactly like a godless universe would, and not at andresw like a Christian universe would, even down to its very structure. The premature death of the Christian songwriter was hard to reconcile with Andrews’ understanding of the principles of Christianity. Sure, you can go full blown philosophical and George W Smith does that, but it’s not necessary, and you can find out why by reading most of these authors and finding out in less than 10 minutes.
It had a lot of interesting material in it, and mounted some cogent arguments which effectively demolish religious concepts, but there was too much of himself in the book deconferted there could have been much more of the interesting material that appears to undermine the arguments of those who argue for the existence of a deity.
The pinging of doubt in the back of my head had amplified into a full-on siren, but I compartmentalized my questions and kept them in a kind of mental storage.
