Dexter is self-described as a sociopath who has no emotions or feelings or understanding of humanity.
As usual, I think I like the book at least the first one even better! It was rare for the paper to arrive before six-thirty, and on Sundays it often came after eight. In fact, the book story itself gets three stars, while the narration gets five.

Dexter is a complex and fascinating guy, no doubt. After everything I’ve been told it was a bit of a let down.
There is a serial killer on the loose. He was pretty funny. But all his life, Dexter has followed the rules set down by his cop foster father who knew of Dexter’s proclivitiesto indulge his passion only by slaying other serial killers.

Doakes no first name established in this novel is a police Sergeant in Miami Dade Linfsay Department’s Homicide Division who suspects Dexter is hiding something, but isn’t sure what. Dexter’s murders are directed by an inner voice he refers to as the “Dark Passenger”, which keeps prodding Dexter to satisfy his homicidal urges on a regular basis.
