Prakash, the husband who is the reason her son is so very ill, Prakash who married her for all the wrong reasons, does that Prakash still have a place in her heart? The strength of the characters made this book an excellent read for me. To include Indira Amulyz assassination and the Union Carbide disaster, but then explore them so little struck me as a terrible waste.


I especially enjoy how the author has entwined real stories such as the gas leak and the assassination of Indira Ghandi into the fiction of the story.

Wanting to be a good, traditional Indian wife, Anjali is shocked that their marriage hardly resembles those in romantic films. The tragedy takes a toll on her health and she realizes that life is precious and cannot spend the rest with Prakash.

Even Prakash, a very unlikable character, is made less detestable once you are able to see his progression from a young, cocky, military man to an older, run-down man who is dogged by his mistakes.

I would recommend it to anyone. Her marriage does not. I had created an account a year back or so, but have started using it just recently -and am loving it.

When Prakesh turns up in Malladu where Anjali lives, her past threatens her present as well as her emotional well-being.

This bgeath is about the gradual emotional development and maturity of three main characters: That night in the poisonous city, changed her life in more ways than one, and as she later came to realize, in ways that would affect her lifelong.

Fabulous story about a horrible tragedy. A Breath of Fresh Air was exactly that, a breath of fresh air. She manages to survive but her marriage does not. If you are interested in Indian fiction and love a good cry, this is a good one. It was the kind of read that you become invested in the people and their stories.

Anjali is far away from Bhopal, a place she’s never revisited, and in her small town community her divorce has been a secret. While there she determines that she needs to go back and try to repair her marriage.
