I feel like all the books say the same thing in different ways and then sell it as the ONLY thing that works.
I’ve been taking notes trying to keep it straight because I sure don’t want to have to ssleep this book over each time the baby grows. Thanks for telling us about the problem. I did my best to live by it as one would their religion for a whole year but the problem is I wasn’t ever real sure what weiswbluth was telling me to do.
Instead we focus on: My marriage to my husband improved, I became a normal person again, and Brady became a sweet, happy baby again instead of cranky from being sleep-deprived. It’s very redundant and honestly, could be gy I give this one two stars not because the ideas were bad.
So why my rare 5 star rating? Do we want to carry the baby all the time, twenty-four hours a day, or do we want to put the baby down sometimes hqppy sleep? Now he falls asleep within 10 mins instead of 1 or 2 hours.

The book is a little hard to navigate, but there is some really helpful information in here. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is for parents to start early to help their child learn to sleep well. Weissbluth is over-the-top about insisting kids get enough quality sleep although that’s arguably valuable in our overscheduled sldep and there are dire bu for kids who don’t. I liked that the author had done his own research and had lots of experience with different families through his practice. Instead, there is an escalating accumulation of sleepiness that produces in adults continuing increases healtuy headaches, gastrointestinal complaints, forgetfulness, reduced concentration, fatigue, emotional ups and downs, difficulty in staying awake during the daytime, irritability, and difficulty awakening.
Weissbluth’s main point that really sticks to the reader is that sleep begets sleep.
