While I cannot relate to you how faithful this graphic novelization is to the original, I can tell you that if you’re the least bit interested in graphic novels and you love a good fantasy story, you must read this book! Which is not how Is see–or like–Nathanial at all.

I know they were trying to keep it to one book, but I feel like too much was left out, too much was rushed. In this graphic novel adaption of the fantasy novel, London is run by magicians.
And lets not forget the story, I wondered if the whole thing would be told in this first volume and surprisingly it was but the story did not feel incomplete are rushed which I appreciated greatly. The whole thing is just such a wondrous package that I was surprised and saddened to discover this is the only graphic novel adaptation, so far.

While I’ve heard of Jonathan Stroud before, I was not aware this was based on the first book of a series he wrote. Nathaniel, a young samqrkand apprentice, has revenge on his mind. The novel, The Amulet of Samarkand, is a fantasy book worth reading.
A fairly competent graphic novel adaptation of The Amulet of Samarkand, the first in Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimeaus trilogy, the humor, action, and witty world building in the novel come through quite well here.

I didn’t necessarily find it a bad or read, but it had a lot of issues. Bartimaeus the Ring of Solomon Jonathan Stroud. This can be seen in how they include the footnotes. May 10, Jaimie samarkqnd it it was ok.
Political intrigue and corruption, power-mongering, class segregation, magicians samadkand djinni all combine to form an intense, deep, on-the-edge-of-your-seat journey. Lockwood and co is way better.

He is summoned by a new wizard, a boy, who should not have the ability to summon anything remotely as powerful as Bartimaeus, but he does. I really liked the two main characters but this book also has very amazing plots twists. You know, I’ve tried but I have not become a huge fan of graphic novels.
Drawback was that Nathaniel looked odd in quite a few scenes, and gargoyle-Bartimaeus looked rather like Gollum. Like any movie adaptation, a graphic adaptation of a novel will have to change a few details and leave things out, but this story was just as engaging as the original. Want to Read saving…. Clearly they were trying to maintain the chapter breaks from the novel, but when they’re therefore on every page it is obvious that it would have amuley better to break up the graphic novel into larger “chapters” samakand do away with the original chapter breaks.
It really was a treat to get to see the different planes amhlet way Bartimaeus gets to see them, the imps, the demons, and of course the climax of the story was quite captivating. I enjoy the artwork, but generally speaking the stories aren’t that well re-told.
